F1489. Very Fine Early 19th Century Louis XVI Revival Open Arm Sofa, in Rosewood, a deeply finger carved frame, a tall rectangular padded back with rounded corners, by a crest rail centered by delicately carved roses. The deep, upholstered seat has a serpentine shaped seat and frieze with four cabriole legs, each with a shell capital, positioned at each inwardly curve of the seat. Each leg is on wooden castors. The new upholstery on the back, arm pads, and seat is green and burgandy stripe, with a narrow white stripe. These deep colors enhance the gorgeous Rosewood. This piece bears an old finish. Dating is Circa 1840, and is transitional Classical Revival to Victorian in style. Dimensions are 67" long at the arm. Seat is 15 1/2" high x 64" wide x 27" deep. Back is 35 1/2" high.
